SKILLED, CARING PROFESSIONALS

ADHD

ADHD may be one of the most misunderstood and misdiagnosed psychiatric conditions in existence, and there are many misconceptions that can make it difficult to detect. In some cases, children and adults will struggle for many years due to their untreated ADHD symptoms. In other cases, physicians will diagnose and prescribe medication for ADHD to patients based on the presence of only a few symptoms. Both situations can be extremely detrimental.

Why choose Stone Creek for your ADHD Assessment Services?

What many don’t realize is that ADHD is a multi-faceted neurological condition which goes far beyond academics, affecting those who suffer from it on an emotional, mental and even physical level. ADHD can’t be diagnosed through a google search or a 30-minute consultation with a physician. That’s why it’s so important to make sure that a diagnosis comes from a thorough evaluation of the client’s history, background and current symptomology in the academic and non-academic setting.

At Stone Creek Psychotherapy, our ADHD expert, Director Dianne W. Appolito, LCSW has dedicated her life to diagnosing ADHD and educating those who suffer from it as well as their loved ones. Her Neurosystemic Approach has proven to be the most effective method for diagnosis and long-term treatment of ADHD.

ADHD Assessment and Education

At Stone Creek Psychotherapy, our evaluation is personalized for each individual client. Following an extensive clinical interview, the Brown’s EF/A Assessment is administered in different forms designed specifically for children, adolescents, and adults. With child clients, we schedule a school visitation with teachers and administrators. Clients are assessed on various areas of neurological functioning including organization, attention and concentration, energy and effort, memory and recall, and emotional stability.

Following the evaluation process, the client is provided with a comprehensive report as well as a two-hour session, explaining the results of the assessment in the context of personal and family history. During this session, the client gains a wealth of knowledge on their neurological makeup. While society has painted ADHD in a negative light, Dianne’s many years of experience working with ADHD revolves around educating clients of the gifts associated with ADHD. By focusing on how to utilize the positive aspects of the ADHD brain, and learning how to manage the negative aspects, clients can truly learn to accept and embrace their neurological makeup and learn to function to their greatest potential.
